Eligibility:

Predoctoral Students:

  • All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to clinical translational science.

  • Predoctoral students must have passed their qualifying exam/been admitted to candidacy and be in good standing within their PhD program.

  • Applicants must be able to commit to one full year in the TBS Program, regardless of achieving independent funding through individual training awards (e.g., F30, F31 or Foundation equivalent).

DECISIONS AND FUNDING:

  • We anticipate notifying applicants and mentors of award status (funded or not-funded) by mid-July via email.

  • If awarded, the applicant will need to complete all compliance documents within 30 days. Funding is contingent on submission of this information and failure to do so could result in disqualification.

  • Upon submission of this additional information, the TBS Executive Committee will prepare an award agreement/letter. Once the award agreement/letter is signed, the TBS Executive Committee will review and approve the agreement so that funding can be achieved.

  • Funding is anticipated to begin on  September 1, 2026

FULL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Biosketches and Other Support of applicant and mentors: Follow current NIH requirements for these documents. Trainees must have sufficient funding from their mentors to conduct their research.

  • Specific aims: 1 page

  • Research strategy: 1-2 pages

  • Career development and mentorship plan: 1-3 pages. Explain your interest in pursuing a career in clinical translational science and how your career development activities and mentorship plan will support your career goals.
