Skill Series: Mechanisms to Medicine: Approaches to Translatability

Regina Armstrong, PhD

Chair, Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Genetics at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences

Dr. Regina Armstrong is the founding director of the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine, a collaborative intramural research center between USU, the NIH, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. Armstrong’s own research focuses on using a wide variety of techniques with animal models and human specimens to maximize translatability. Her talk will focus on her approach to translatable science where attendees will learn philosophies around translation. There will be an extensive question and answer session where participants can ask questions such as those related to building translatable projects, using human data to direct in vivo/in vitro work, and other topics around how bench science can be effectively translated into clinical relevance.
