GHUCCTS Research Grand Rounds

Research Grand Rounds Presents:  “Accelerating epidemiologic research by cohort harmonization, collaboration, and shared analysis platforms: The Collaborative Cohort of Cohorts for COVID-19 Research (C4R)”

Sponsor: MHRI and GHUCCTS
Time: 12 - 1:00 PM
Location: Live Stream Only
Speaker(s): Elizabeth C (Lizzy) Oelsner, MD, MPH

Dr. Oelsner is Herbert Irving Associate Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Columbia University where she leads the NHLBI-supported Collaborative Cohort of Cohorts for COVID-19 Research (C4R; https://c4r-nih.org/), providing national leadership of a unique resource that brings together 14 longitudinal cohort studies that have been following over 50,000 participants from across the US for up to 40 years in order to elucidate factors that influence development of severe or prolonged COVID-19 illness. Over the past 8 years and supported by multiple NIH grants, her extraordinarily productive and impactful clinical and translational research has focused on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, predisposing toxic exposures, clinical and imaging assessment, outcomes and treatment of chronic lung diseases.  Lizzy is a national leader in the harmonization of data elements across clinical studies to enable us to address “big” questions across diverse populations that would otherwise be beyond the reach of individual studies.  Her talk will focus on leveraging data harmonization and informatic platforms to enable collaborative multidisciplinary team science at scale in C4R and opportunities to access this unique research resource.

Research Grand Rounds are sponsored by the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) and MedStar Health Research Institute to bring together our diverse clinical and research communities to share research that spans disciplines and stages of translation to improve individual and community health.
