Dr. Hurtado de Mendoza, a former GHUCCTS KL2 Scholar, is Assistant Professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is a Social Psychologist who extended her interdisciplinary training and research to Anthropology and Communication, Culture, Technology and Translational Genomics. Her NCATS, NCI, NINR, and Foundation-supported research leverages discipline-spanning and community-engaged translational team science to design and evaluate interventions to address cancer disparities among underserved ethnically and racially diverse populations. Her talk will focus on the use of an adapted telephone genetic counseling intervention to address stark disparities in the uptake of genetic risk assessment in high-risk Latina women
